Military & Government

Catellus acquires land formerly used as military installations and government facilities (such as airports), transforming them into mixed-use developments and commercial and retail districts that are often in proximity to some of the nation’s leading metropolitan areas — including San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Austin and Manhattan.

Decommissioned properties provide opportunities that few in the development world are capable of undertaking. Redevelopment usually entails extensive remediation and deconstruction, as well as a commitment to rebuild and develop new infrastructure. Both activities require great skill, capital commitment and sometimes lengthy processes involving many civic and government authorities. Catellus is highly skilled and experienced at working with local authorities — consulting city councils, planning commissions, zoning boards and citizens’ groups — to responsibly account for the needs of the surrounding community and realize its highest expectations.
