Another Year of Mueller Milestones

Another year, another set of incredible activity in Mueller. Here’s an abbreviated list of Mueller’s 2021 accomplishments.

More Retail 

We announced a number of new businesses will join Aldrich Street in 2021, including Veracruz All Natural, Tinys Milk & Cookies, Marufuku Ramen, Austin Eye Studio, Lone Star Pediatric Dental and Braces and Vio Med SpaWe also welcomed The Kebab Shop and Hey Cupcake! to Mueller.

More Homes

A collection of 370 single-family homes (with 25% of them a part of the affordable homes program) are well underway by CalAtlantic, David Weekley, Empire, Muskin and Wes Peoples homebuilders.

More Parks

The nearly 30-acre Southeast Greenway and the skate park and pump track broke ground this year, plus consultants are designing three more parks – one that will be amid the homes currently under construction, one that will be just south of the school site and an open, public plaza and paseo that will lead to the former control tower.

Groundbreakings

  • Austin ISD’s new 800-student public middle school for northeast Austin
  • Dell Children’s fourth patient wing and campus parking garage
  • Gemdale Corp’s 130,000 sf, five-story medical office building
  • Pealstone Partners’ Parkside at Mueller, a collection of 200 condos at Aldrich Street;
  • Austin Modern Lofts’ first project, a total of 91 residential homes (34 condos and 56 town homes) with approximately 5,000 sf of retail at Berkman and Tom Miller streets
  • Austin Modern Lofts’ second project, a total of 39 condos and town homes, including shop houses, at 51st and Mueller streets

  • Austin Energy employees began moving into their new headquarters
  • The Teacher Retirement System of Texas board voted to move its headquarters to Mueller
  • Ascension Seton opened its highly anticipated specialty pavilion for pediatric cardiovascular, neurosciences, fetal care and cancer programs
  • The farmers’ market moved to the newly opened Branch Park Pavilion
  • Austin Habitat for Humanity residents moved into their homes
  • Ryan Companies announced its plans to build 345 apartment units near the control tower
  • Catellus completed the shade structure at the amphitheater
  • Mueller became one of the first neighborhoods in Austin where street speed limits were reduced to 25 MPH
