Austin Energy Headquarters

Location

The local electric utility, Austin Energy, decided to consolidate its leadership into a headquarters building in Mueller (Austin, TX) brining up to 1,100 employees to the mixed-use development. Catellus was the vertical developer of the 270,000-square-foot build-to-suit and parking structure. The building looks to the future by anticipating new growth needs and decreasing auto dependency. Catellus worked with planners and architects to design a parking structure that aligns with the new headquarters building on the top two floors and includes all necessary utilities and engineering to allow office expansion to take over the top two parking decks.

The building features a public meeting space with capacity for 250 people and a six-level parking garage. The building also has a 400-kilowatt solar array, a chilled water system, reclaimed water will be used for flushing and irrigation, and electric charging stations for 64 vehicles. Construction began late 2019 and was completed in 2021.
